When motorcycles first became a popular vehicle of choice women were more than likely either hitching a ride on the back or posing half naked sprawled on one in a magazine. Like the motorcycles themselves times have changed. Many women have felt left out of the experience of being able to ride a bike because it was predominately a male hobby. There were bad stereotypes associated with female riders and women felt their place as a mom was on the back riding, not up front giving the rides.

Now the only problem women have is the size and strength difference between themselves and men. The height, arm and leg length as well as upper body strength will make it difficult, but not impossible for a woman to find the perfect motorcycle for herself. The most important part in choosing a bike should be the ability to plant both feet securely and firmly on the ground, as well as being able to handle the weight of the bike and reach the handles and all the controls without over stretching. Many new Harley Davidson motorcycles and Kawasaki models have been built with a woman’s physic in mind. This gives a woman quite a bit of choices when trying to choose the right motorcycle for her personal build as well as style.

There are now female motorcycle clubs popping up all around the country. What was once only a male thing has quickly become a woman thing as well! Female motorcycle clubs are not only a way for women riders to find friends that love to do similar things, but it’s also a support group for new riders or women who are looking into becoming riders. Many clubs will offer the support and the information needed to be safe and have fun.

Women have now started to sparkle up their motorcycles and gear. With pink helmets, pink jackets, and a pink sparkly new paint job on the new Harley Davidson Sportster women have turned what once was thought to be a male only world into a fairy land of speed and power.
